 Vintage Lutterloh Pattern Regency Dress

The pattern inspiration:

Butterick 6630









Lutterloh Pattern Used:



I do not know what supplement this pattern came from. 

Modifictions:

I shortened the bodice, lengthened the skirt by three inches, and used the puffy sleeves from the Butterick pattern. I closed the back of the skirt with pleats instead of gathering. Lastly, I added grommet eyelets to fasten the back instead of a zipper.






Materials used:

4 yards of dress fabric (cotton)

4 yards of lining fabric (cotton)

2 spools of trim

1 spool of lace

(faux pearls were not used)



A big emphasis of this video is to bring awareness that if you do buy a Lutterloh kit, you can join the private Lutterloh facebook group (called Lutterloh System). This has been such a great group to be apart of. Many of the same questions I've had, have been asked in the group, it's fun to see what other people are sewing, and you can post your questions in the group.

I did some research and the book I just ordered (January 2021) has 7 complete supplements in it. The supplements are 305-311. Do not confuse patterns for pages. 280 patterns do not equal 280 pages. There are 2-3 patterns on the back side of each page.  How does the price break down compared to traditional patterns? I went on the simplicity website and their patterns average around $4-$5 a piece. Lutterloh has about 40 patterns per supplement at $22.50 per supplement. If you were to buy 40 traditional patterns, that would cost close to $160. So I'd say that's quite a steal. The Princess Diana Blouse Made with Lutterloh Sewing System

YouTube Video Tutorial:  https://youtu.be/cpRCGR4tAUM After watching the Netflix documentary "Diana: In Her Own Words", I was inspired to make a high-neckline blouse that resembled many of the blouses Princess Diana used to wear.  I used two Lutterloh patterns to make this garment. The first one was from the supplement book 310, pattern number 2. The other was pattern number 229 from the original Lutterloh book.  I used the supplement pattern for the shirt design. I altered the pattern a little by choosing not to add the hole at the center top. I used the second pattern for the sleeves.  Step 1: draw and cut out the Lutterloh pattern pieces Step 2: wash fabric, cut out fabric pieces Step 3: sew the top shoulders of the blouse right sides together Step 4: gather sleeves to fit the sleeve holes (about 4 inches).  Step 5: Sew channel on the bottom of the sleeve about 1-2 inches from the bottom.
